QLD: Elderly bikers collide with cement truck

BRISBANE, April 20 AAP - Two elderly people were injured when their touring Harley Davidson
motorcycle collided with a cement truck in the Sunshine Coast hinterland today.

The Energex community rescue helicopter flew paramedic David Ellaby to the scene on the
Peachester-Kilcoy Road after the mid-morning accident left the male rider and his female
pillion passenger needing urgent medical attention.

Mr Ellaby said the full extent of the injuries was not known but he said the male victim's
condition was more serious.

Helicopter pilot Jim Campbell said: "They are a retired couple well into their 60s who were
on a touring trip with a small trailer behind their Harley".

Mr Campbell flew the injured woman to the Nambour Hospital and because of space
restrictions, the man was taken by ambulance.
