NSW: A quarter of emergency patients wait more than 8 hrs: oppn

SYDNEY, Jan 2 AAP - Nearly a quarter of NSW emergency patients had to wait more thaneight hours for admission to hospital in 2001-02 according to a government report, thestate opposition said today.
Opposition health spokeswoman Jillian Skinner said the NSW Health Department's annualreport showed only 78 per cent of patients were admitted to a bed within eight hours.
This compared to 83 per cent four years ago when more people were attending emergencydepartments, she said.
