Makovsky + Company Selects Wolfrom to Head Booming Technology + Energy Markets Practices.

Edelman, Cohn & Wolfe, Havas Veteran Appointed to Prominent Global Role

NEW YORK -- Makovsky + Company, one of the world's largest independent integrated communications firms, today announced the appointment of Matthew Wolfrom as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of its Technology + Energy Markets Practices, effective immediately. Wolfrom is responsible for driving all aspects of the practice's innovation, intellectual property, business development and client service. He will report to CEO Ken Makovsky.

With nearly 20 years of experience, Wolfrom has served as a senior strategic advisor to CEOs and executive teams focused on technology and energy, addressing a broad array of communications challenges involving brand strategy, corporate reputation, issues management, digital platforms, media relations and global marketing. In addition, he has garnered the support of editorial boards at the nation's major dailies for client positions on sensitive regulatory matters. Throughout his career, he has worked with various clients in the technology and energy markets including ADP, American Water, Cablevision, Cisco, Comcast, Convergys, Digicel, DivX, Gartner, IBM, MasterCard, Motorola, Siemens, and Yahoo!.

Prior to joining Makovsky, Wolfrom was Executive Vice President of Corporate and Financial Communications at Edelman with a client portfolio including Brown Brothers Harriman, PwC, Western Union and TIAA-CREF. Before Edelman, he oversaw the North American Corporate Practice at Cohn &Wolfe where he designed and executed award-winning campaigns for clients in multiple industries, including financial services, health and technology. In addition, he served in a dual role as Executive Vice President leading the technology practice and as General Manager at Havas-owned Euro RSCG Magnet. On the corporate side, he was Vice President of Marketing at SmartPipes (a Kleiner Perkins-funded enterprise software and services company); and Excite@Home, the largest cable Internet and broadband company.
